RuneScape 3 Construction Guide: Best 1-99 Training Method

Introduction

Construction training in RuneScape 3 is still very similar to how it was back in the earlier versions of the game. That being said, there are some new rooms and furniture to build which has changed the meta slightly.

In this RS3 Construction guide, we’re going to go over everything you need to know. Read on, and get started with your Construction training today!

House Options

Before you begin any Construction training, you’ll need to first purchase a house. You can do this by speaking to Estate Agent NPC in the game. The quickest one to travel to is in Falador, just south-east of the lodestone.

When you reach him, ask to purchase a house. Your initial purchase will cost 1,000 gold, and the house will be automatically placed in Taverly. You can speak to him again at higher levels to change your house location to any of the nine available areas.

RS3 Estate Agent

Along with being able to change your player owned house location, you can also use the Estate Agent to change your house styles. Again, more styles will unlock based on your level, and they all cost different prices. You can change your house walls/interior, the ground style, dungeon style and even the lighting.

Butlers

Training your construction effectively will require the use of a butler. Butlers are not available until level 20, however they are not very useful for training until level 40.

In order to hire a butler, you must have two bedrooms in your house, with a bed constructed in each one. Butlers can be hired from the Servant’s Guild which is directly south-west of the Ardougne lodestone.

Below you can find the three recommended butlers and their respective abilities.

Servant Level Cost Capacity Time
Butler 40 5,000 (3,750 after Love Story) 20 planks 12s
Demon Butler 50 10,000 (7,500 after Love Story) 26 planks 7s
Monkey Butler 50 None 26 planks 7s

Each butler can be used to retrieve specific items from your bank. In our case, it means that they can be tasked with getting planks from our bank and bringing them to us. Because of this, you will not have to leave your house while training Construction.

The Monkey Butler can be hired by speaking to the monkey inside of the Invention Guild with at least level 60 Invention. You will also need to unlock the Monkey Mind-control Helmet device.

Two butlers will require payment. After using their service seven times, you will need to pay the amount listed in the ‘Cost’ column of the chart above.

Constructor’s Outfit

At level 44 Construction, you can begin using the Constructor’s Outfit for a 6% experience boost while training. The full set can be obtained from completing certain milestones in the Temple Trekking/Burgh de Rott Ramble minigames.

Consider the amount of time it takes to obtain the full set. This minigame can take quite a bit of time to complete in comparison to the total bonus experience you’d receive. If you plan on playing this minigame anyways, or are wanting to complete the Morytania task set, then this will be a good investment.

Item Minigame Requirement
Constructor’s Gloves Get Pazuzu to level 85
Constructor’s Boots Get Zachory Bragg to level 85
Constructor’s Hat Total Level 200 (includes all 6 characters)
Constructor’s Trousers Total Level 300 (includes all 6 characters)
Constructor’s Garb Total Level 400 (includes all 6 characters)

Scroll of Proficiency

This Dungoneering reward can be purchased for 20,000 tokens with level 60 Dungoneering and Construction. Once purchased, read the scroll to permanently unlock its plank-saving effect.

When you construct any piece of furniture in your player owned house that requires three or more planks, you will have a slight chance of saving one or more planks. The chance of saving depends solely on the type of plank you are using. Higher level planks have a lower chance than low level planks.

Plank Type Save Chance
Normal 50%
Oak 25%
Teak 20%
Mahogany 10%
Protean 5%

In the grand scheme of things, 20,000 Dungeoneering tokens is not very much. I highly recommend unlocking this scroll early on in your Construction training. You’ll save a significant amount of money.

Sculpting Chisel

Awarded for building the same God Statue in the same location for four months in a row in the God Statues D&D. For example, building the Guthix statue in Lumbridge for four months in a row, you will be awarded the Sculpting Chisel (Guthix). The god does make any difference, all chisels have the same effect. You can use D&D Monthly Tokens to reset, and this will count as another month.

RS3 Constructors Outfit

The Sculpting Chisel will provide you with a 1% experience boost in Construction while worn. This stacks with the Constructor’s Outfit for a total of 7%. See this section for more information on the God Statues D&D.

1-99 Method

Before we begin training, make sure that you have atleast purchased a house from an Estate Agent. Before you’re able to hire a Butler, you will need to bring teleports to get to and from your house in order to restock on planks. House teleport tabs and a Ring of Kinship work well for this.

Now that we’re ready to being training, let’s take a look at what we should build to level up our Construction in the most efficient way possible.

Levels 1-19: Crude Wooden Chairs

These chairs can be constructed inside of a Parlour, which will be the first room automatically generated for your player owned house after you purchase it. They require 2 normal planks and 2 nails (I recommend using Iron – make sure to bring extra because you will bend some) each.

This step requires 61 chairs to be made without any bonus experience.

Levels 19-26: Oak Chairs

Again, chairs can be constructed within the Parlour. These chairs do not require nails, only 2 oak planks for each chair.

This requires step 40 chairs to be made without any bonus experience.

Levels 26-33: Oak Arm Chairs

Same as previously, except 3 oak planks are required per chair.

This step requires 43 chairs to be made without any bonus experience.

Levels 33-52: Oak Larders

At this point you will need to purchase a Kitchen for your house. Remember to build two bedrooms with a bed in each at level 40 so that you can hire a Butler. You can being using your Butler to retrieve planks from your bank so that you no longer have to teleport back and forth. Oak Larders take 8 oak planks to make.

This step requires 224 larders to be made without any bonus experience.

Levels 52-63/73: Mahogany Tables

Construction will start to get expensive around this point. Keep in mind that while it may be expensive, the experience is incredibly fast. These tables require 6 mahogany planks each.

This step requires 1,035 tables to be made without any bonus experience.

Levels 63-73: Driftwood Prawnbrokers

A cheaper method to level 73 is Driftwood Prawnbokers. These can be constructed within the Aquarium room, and require 8 teak planks.

This step requires 868 prawnbrokers to be made without any bonus experience. If you choose to do these all the way to level 99 (which is viable, they are over 700,000 experience per hour) you will need to make 17,592 prawnbrokers.

Levels 73-99: Flotsam Prawnbrokers

In the same spot as the previous step, you will be making the upgraded version of the previous furniture. Flotsam Prawnbrokers require 8 mahogany planks to be constructed, and are the fastest method of training Construction. They can reach up to 1,000,000 experience per hour.

This step requires 10,752 prawnbrokers to be made without any bonus experience.

God Statues

God Statues are a monthly D&D that involves solving a small puzzle to build, well, a statue of a god. This provides a large chunk of Construction experience. There are five statue locations: Lumbridge, Yanille, Taverly, Canifis and Prifddinas. Talk to the gnome, Copernicus Glpyh, beside the statue for more information.

Before you begin the puzzle, you will need to select the statue you want to build for extra Prayer or Slayer experience. Keep in mind if you choose Slayer, you will have to kill an NPC after constructing the statue.

In the top left, you will be told how much total scaffolding you can use. In this example, it is 13. To the right of this, you can see the highest and lowest heights of the scaffolding. Here, the tallest must be 4 high and the smallest must be 2 high. This means that each spot has to have a height of at least 2, and no higher than 4.

I set this up in the middle image, just taking a guess at where things should go. Click the gnome button in the top right for Copernicus to check your progress, and he will tell you which places are right and wrong. From here on it, it’s just a guessing game until you nail down which goes where.

When you have the right combination, the gnome button will glow green. Click it to complete the statue. Afterwards, use the Pray option at the statue to receive your Prayer experience, or fight the NPC for your Slayer experience. Construction experience is scaled to your level, but provides a great free experience boost while training other skills.

Hefin Harps

This method requires completion of the Plague’s End quest.

Prifddinas harps are located in the south-west corner of the Hefin district. They are mainly used for some incredibly AFK Crafting experience, however they do off a small amount of Construction experience. After playing the harps for a period of time, they will begin to go out of tune. You can re-tune them for some decent Construction experience.

RS3 Hefin Harps

If you plan to train Crafting through this method, it is highly recommended to do this before training your Construction in the traditional way. You will receive a significant amount of experience while doing this, especially if you plan to use harps for 99 Crafting.
