How to Delete Your RuneScape Account

There are a number of reasons you may want to delete your RuneScape account. Maybe you’ve grown tired of the game, want to make a different account with the same email address, or want to force yourself to stop playing. 

Unfortunately, there is no way to fully delete your RuneScape or OSRS account. Depending on your reasoning for deleting your account, you do have a few options.

Disable Your Account

If you truly no longer want to be able to access your RuneScape account, you can request that it be permanently disabled. You will need to write an email to Jagex support, from the email your account is linked to, explaining why you’d like to have your account disabled.

Jagex typically takes a few days to reply, but they will typically follow through with your request. Be warned that is is forever. You can never access this account again. The account username will not be immediately deleted either, so you cannot make a new account under the same name until it is cleared (which can take years).

Register Another Account Under the Same Email

Just want to register another account without also making a new email address? Do not disable/delete your account for this!

Believe it or not, if you’re using Gmail, this is totally possible. Due to the way Gmail handles your account, you can actually put a period (.) anywhere in the address to act as a “new” address. Upon registration, everything will still be sent to your “normal” address.

Any of the above variations will act as a “new” email address to Jagex, but it will still be linked to the overall [email protected] address.

Transfer Usernames

Do you want to create a new account, but keep the username of your current one? No problem! You do not need to disable your account to do this.

Firstly, you will need to purchase a Bond ingame item on both your current and new account. Use the bond to purchase a name change on your new account. Once the name has been inactive for a long enough period of time, you can use the bond on your new account to take the name.

Be cautious with this, as there are always people trying to take “rare” usernames. There is no 100% safe way to transfer a username. Jagex does not have anything in place for this, and does not condone the use of any third party services. If your name is lost, unfortunately nothing can be done.
