Effects & Stats
OSRS Cooking gauntlets are one of the best items available for training your cooking skill. While equipped, they will drastically lower the level in which you stop burning fish. These gauntlets can be obtained at a fairly low level, and are most definitely worthwhile for your cooking training.
The cooking gauntlets are a reward from the Family Crest quest. You are given Steel gauntlets upon completion, which can be turned into your choice of cooking, goldsmith or chaos gauntlets. To complete the quest, you require the following skills:
- 40 Mining
- 40 Smithing
- 59 Magic
- 40 Crafting
You can boost your Mining & Smithing levels by +1 with a Dwarven Stout, or +2 with a Mature Dwarven Stout. Magic may be boosted by +5 with a Super Magic Potion.
Crafting is the only skill that cannot be boosted to complete this quest. Family Crest can be started by talking to Dimintheis in the gated south-eastern portion of Varrock.
Need to change your gauntlets to a different type? All gauntlet changes require you to talk to one of the brothers from the Family Crest quest, and give them 25,000 coins in exchange. You can find their locations below. Upon completion of the Family Pest mini-quest, you will be able to own all three pairs of gauntlets at the same time.
Cooking gauntlets can be obtained from Caleb behind the Catherby bank, and directly south of the farming patches.
Goldsmith gauntlets can be obtained from Avan, located near the entrance of the Al Kharid mine.
Chaos gauntlets can be obtained from Johnathon, in the north-western upstairs room of the Jolly Boar Inn, just west of Varrock.
Lost your gauntlets completely? Talk to Dimintheis again in the south-east side of Varrock for a new pair, free of charge!
The following fish are effected by the cooking gauntlets. While they only effect a few common fish, these are some of the best to use while training your cooking skill. You will be able to avoid burns at a much lower level, increasing your overall profit and experience rates.
